The Ten Commandments: Thou Shalt Not Bear False Witness
Topic: Laws of God

Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour. (Exodus 20:16 KJV)

As we are getting ready to close this series on the Ten Commandment, the last two are focused on our relationship with neighbors or someone close to us that is outside our families. Our focus today is on the ninth commandment: Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

For me, I don’t like to watch court TV programs. The reason: There are too many disagreements between the two oppositions and the judge. They are not telling the truth. Instead, they tell some fables to the judge and the judge would decide who’s telling the truth.

We can see this act from anywhere, even in the church. Let’s read what Paul said to Timothy (I Timothy 4:1-3), “Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.” We see that some preachers teach the gospel that is out of context in the Holy Bible. For example, Peter Popoff is selling the holy water or holy prayer cloth for certain amount. If the water is holy, where did he get it from and why he is selling to us? This and more pastors don’t teach the truth; instead, they are seeking for money.

We are supposed to be witnesses to draw people into God and not for our needs. The goal of this ministry is this: And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations… (Matthew 24:14). I don’t need your money to share the truth of God. It is ashamed for ministers to use the merchandise and fable methods to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Jesus said in Matthew 5:16, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”

Is your light on for you to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ to people, who haven’t heard the gospel? Are you a true witness for Jesus Christ or just pretending for you could have some money? Choice is yours.
